For those of us who have been tracking with us the past few years, we have recently expanded to a second facility here in Athens in order to both extend our distribution footprint, but also to do what we love doing best—finding new ways to add value to our community, in this case, by breathing new life into a 19th century mill structure off Chase Street. A property long forgotten, until now.
Beyond more beer production and market presence, this new facility has enabled us the tank space to create our second community impact brand. Joining the Get Comfortable campaign this month will be Get Artistic. Similar to the Get Comfortable IPA, this initiative will be supported internally through the sales of program-related merchandise, as well as a forthcoming seasonal release—a tart wheat beer brewed with Sauvignon Blanc grape juice, a nod to the common provision of white wine at art gallery openings.
The mission of Get Artistic is to identify creative ways to add value the local arts community, beginning with four primary avenues of support:
“We acknowledge the obstacles to becoming a self-supporting professional artist in today’s market,” said Matt Stevens, Creature Comforts’ Director of Community and Culture. “We therefore hope to participate in a way that helps remove some of these barriers. Moreover, we ultimately want to be a company who ‘walks our talk,’ leveraging our brand and our people to support this community in new and innovative ways.”
The Get Artistic beer is set to be released at the brewery on draft and in to-go 16 oz. cans on Friday, June 22nd, coinciding with AthFest weekend.
